Researches each recommendation from manufacturer specifications, retailer listings and long-term owner reports, and says plainly when something hasn't been used first-hand.

How the work is done

Every recommendation here starts with the manufacturer’s own specifications, checked against retailer listings and the manuals. Then comes the slower part: reading what owners say after months and years of use. That’s where you find out which machines run short of steam, which drip trays fill too quickly and which grinders clump.

We write that up, including the downsides, and keep notes of where each fact came from and which figures we couldn’t confirm.

What you won’t find

We don’t claim to have tested what we haven’t used. If we have used something ourselves, the product page says so. Everything else is research, and we call it that.
